Location: Barwell, UK

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

Job Purpose

The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company's high-quality standards and customer specifications. Working closely with production, compliance, and customer service teams, you will monitor, inspect, and report on quality issues, manage customer quality complaints, and support continuous improvement across operations.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Product Inspection: Conduct regular checks on printed labels and finished goods throughout the production process, ensuring they meet company and customer specifications.

  • Documentation: Accurately complete quality control records, including non-conformance reports, checklists, inspection logs, and quality complaint logs.

  • Process Monitoring: Ensure adherence to internal SOPs, GMP standards, and customer requirements during production runs.

  • Non-Conformance & Complaints Management:

    • Identify and report defects or non-compliance issues.

    • Log and investigate quality complaints raised by customers.

    • Coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions with relevant departments.

    • Communicate resolutions clearly and promptly to internal teams and assist in closing the complaint loop with the customer.

  • Calibration & Equipment Checks: Ensure measuring and testing equipment is correctly maintained and calibrated.

  • Customer Support: Liaise with customer service teams and assist in resolving any quality-related complaints or queries.

  • Training & Support: Assist in training staff on quality standards, complaint handling procedures, and best practices.

  • Continuous Improvement: Provide input on improving quality systems, reducing waste, preventing recurrence of complaints, and enhancing product reliability.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, BRC, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills

  • Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Good IT skills (e.g., Excel, quality tracking systems)

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Previous experience in a quality control or quality assurance role, ideally within print, packaging, or labelling industries

  • Experience handling and investigating quality complaints is essential

  • Understanding of print processes and label production is highly desirable

  • Familiarity with inspection tools, sampling techniques, complaint investigation, and quality documentation

  • Training in internal auditing or quality systems (desirable but not essential)
