The company has an opportunity for an experienced Flexographic Printer of our Reflex Labels site in Boston. 

 

Job Summary:

As a Digital Label Printer Operator, you will be responsible for running and maintaining HP Indigo digital printing presses to produce high-quality self-adhesive and flexible labels.

This role requires expertise in color management, press operation, job setup, and post-press quality checks.

You operator will work closely with the prepress and finishing teams to ensure that production schedules and customer quality expectations are met.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor HP Indigo digital presses (e.g., HP Indigo 6K/6900/20000) for label printing.

  • Review print job specifications, including material type, print layout, and finishing instructions.

  • Conduct job setup including substrate loading, color calibration, and ink configuration.

  • Perform regular maintenance, press calibrations, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Verify print quality through visual checks, color matching, and print registration.

  • Ensure jobs are completed on time, with minimal waste, and according to production targets.

  • Collaborate with prepress and finishing departments for workflow efficiency and accuracy.

  • Record job details, press settings, and materials used in production logs.

  • Comply with safety procedures and quality control standards.

  • Maintain clean, organised, and efficient work area and equipment.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating HP Indigo digital label presses or similar.

  • Knowledge of label substrates (paper, BOPP, PET, etc.) and adhesive types.

  • Understanding of CMYK, spot color matching, ICC profiles, and digital press calibration.

  • Experience using print workflow/RIP software (e.g., HP SmartStream, Esko).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high print quality.

  • Ability to lift and handle label stock rolls and perform light mechanical tasks.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HP Indigo Certification (Level 1 or 2) or equivalent experience.

  • Familiarity with finishing equipment (e.g., AB Graphic, Digicon, rotary die cutters).

  • Knowledge of variable data printing (VDP) and barcode/QR code generation.

  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing or ISO quality systems.

 

Working Permanent Nights 36 hrs per week Monday – Thursday.
